About Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece. It has a population of roughly 1 million people, many of which are students. In Thessaloniki there are 3 public Universities which bring to the city 200.000 students. Thessaloniki is a popular tourist destination in Greece. For 2013, National Geographic Magazine included Thessaloniki in its top tourist destinations worldwide, while in 2014 Financial Times FDI magazine (Foreign Direct Investments) declared Thessaloniki as the best mid-sized European city of the future for human capital and lifestyle.
Thessaloniki has a rich historical, cultural and gastronomic history. Also, it is known for its nightlife, due to the local students, the foreign students and the non-students.
You can access Thessaloniki via plane, train and bus. From Thessaloniki you can take a direct train or bus ride to most of the North Greece, or a train to Athens and from there you can go to the South Greece or one of the many beautiful islands, with the most beautiful being that of Ikaria.
